Parking Analytics

Helping cities optimize parking space through vehicle parking data

Switch from reactive to proactive with 360 degree knowledge of parking in your city

Cities around the world are facing higher costs for maintaining and monitoring parking lots. This is due to a variety of reasons, including increasing urbanization and rising traffic volumes.

As an innovative provider of driver safety and driver assistance systems, Mercedes-Benz offers a unique solution to this "parking dilemma" by providing a comprehensive data set on available parking spaces, always based on a specific city or region.

Using the ignition and ultrasonic sensors of our Mercedes-Benz vehicle fleet, as well as historical parking data collected since 2017, our Parking Analytics product provides high-quality data-driven insights to monitor and maintain parking supply while reducing costs.

Take your parking solutions one step further with our Parking Analytics product by leveraging our API to identify, analyze, predict and deliver parking data insights.

How it works

Functions and features

1. Data Collection

Collection of parking information by the customer fleet using advanced sensors, such as ignition sensors or ultrasonic sensors, and transmission of this to the Mercedes-Benz vehicle backend.

2. Analysis

Analysis of current and historical parking data merged with a computer vision approach to to fully leverage the power of data.

3. Dashboard Display

Display of results on an interactive dashboard to communicate availability of parking infrastructure and insights on parking occupancy.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Here you can find a collection of questions we’ve been asked by our customers.

Is the location accuracy of the parking spaces calculated, if so what is it?

Based on Mercedes-Benz parking events and satellite imagery, it calculates whether on-street parking is allowed at a specific location. A confidence level is also given for this. Accordingly, the location of a parking space is derived from the position of the Mercedes-Benz Park Events and the detected parking area in the satellite images. GPS inaccuracy is not considered.

Is the quality of the parking space calculation consistent over the area?

No, the model quality depends on various factors, e.g. event density, image quality, timeliness of the image data.

How is parking availability on the streets calculated?

By statistical modeling of occupancy based on parking and exit events.

Is the quality of the data in pereferal areas of the city consistent (homogeneous) with more central areas of the city?

A higher event density and a heterogeneous use of the parking areas (by different vehicles) leads to the best results.

What data or features do I have access to?

Parking Space Type; Time stamp; GPS Position; Distribution over Weekdays; Distribution over Daytime; Number of Parking Slots; Parking Availability; Occupancy Prediction
